Dolly Rebecca Parton

Dolly Rebecca Parton was born on the 19th of January 1946 in Pittman Center, Tennessee and was raised in Sevierville, Tennessee to Avie Lee Parton, a homewife and Robert Lee Parton, a tobacco farmer. At the age of 12, she began performing on Knoxville TV and at 13 she was already recording with an independent label and performing at the Grand Ole Opry. She relocated to Nashville in 1964 to begin her country-singing career after she had graduated from high school. Carl Dean, a asphalt-paving business owner, was her first lover. The couple was married on May 30 the 30th of May, 1966. Porter Wagoner saw her singing and asked her to be a guest on The Porter Wagoner Show (1961). She was on the show for seven years, her duets gained fame and she sang with the Porter Wagoner group at the Grand Ole Opry. She also sold records and toured. Her smash hit "Joshua" that reached the top spot in 1970, was her biggest single. She decided to do by herself and remained with the group, even though she recorded duets with the singer. She left him for good to be a singer-songwriter on her own in 1974. Dolly was a hugely loved singer/songwriter. Dolly has won many Country Music Association awards (1968, 1970, 1971, 1975, 1976). The petite (5'0") beauty was a natural for television at the time, and by the middle of the 1970s she was frequently appearing on TV specials and talk shows before getting her own, Dolly (1976). In 1977, Dolly got her first Grammy award: Best Female Country Vocal Performance for her track "Here You Come Again." Dolly's first film appearance was in the movie 9-to-5 (1980) and she earned an Oscar nomination for the song's title, as well as Grammy awards 2 and 3. She also won Grammy awards 2, 3, Best Country Song and Best Female Country Vocal Performance, for the track "Nine to Five." More fame came from her roles in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982), as along with Rhinestone (1984), with the hit song "Tennessee Homesick Blues". Dolly Parton Enterprises, worth $100 million, is her chief. Dollywood was established in Pigeon Forge in Tennessee in 1986 to celebrate her Smoky Mountain heritage. In the TV show of 1987, Dolly, she starred as herself. She also won a Grammy in 1988 for Best Country Performance Duo/Group , Vocals, for "Trio".
