Bruce Willis, an actor and musician, is known for his tough-edged roles or wisecracking characters in action films. Together, they've been featured in films grossing more than $2.5 billion USD. Walter Bruce Willis, a actor from West Germany, was born in Idar–Oberstein West Germany on March 19 1955. He was the son of Marlene Kassel (from Carneys Point), and David Andrew Willis (from New Jersey), who lived on a military base within the United States. His family moved to the United States within a short time after the birth of his son. He was raised in Penns Grove (New Jersey) where his mother was a bank clerk and his father was an electrician and worker in factories. Willis picked up an interest in the drama arts during high school and was "discovered" when he was working at an establishment located in New York City and then was featured in several off-Broadway productions. When he was bartending, he was seen by a casting director who liked his style and wanted an bartender for a brief movie part. Willis was involved in numerous auditions prior to being cast in the well-known romantic comedy, Moonlighting (1985), as David Addison. His humorous, wisecracking P.I. is the highlight of his career. is viewed by some as an exercise in preparation for the role of hard-boiled NYC detective "John McClane" in the horror film Die Hard (1988), in which Willis' character single-handedly battled an gang of vicious international thieves in a Los Angeles skyscraper. The sequel, Die Hard 2 (1990), Willis reprised his role in the role of McClane. The plot set in Washington's Dulles International Airport where a group of rebellious Special Forces soldiers are trying to reclaim a corrupt South American general. The success of the film at the box office prompted a further sequel, Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995), this time co-starring Samuel L. Jackson as a cynical Harlem shop owner who accidentally gets into supporting McClane in the aftermath of a terrorist bombing campaign on a sweltering day in New York.
